Affiliate disclosure

Written for somebody deciding whether to believe a verdict, rather than for anybody checking a box. Where the money comes from, where it could pull, and what stands against it.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Every price button on this site links straight to Amazon, with our affiliate tag in the address.

Where a button press goes

Every "Check price on Amazon" button carries an affiliate tag. Follow one, buy the stove or the bag of firelighters at the end of it, and a share of that sale comes back to us. Amazon charges you its own price: arriving through this site adds nothing to it and takes nothing off it.

It arrives here first and at Amazon second, because which store is the right one depends on where the page is being read: Italy ends at amazon.it, Spain at amazon.es, each with the tag registered for that marketplace. Every such link carries rel="nofollow sponsored", for a plain reason: a link that can earn is an advertisement, and it should say so to whatever reads the page after you do.

The direction the money pulls

Commission is a percentage of a sale, so one twelve-kilowatt stove is worth a great many reels of door cord. That pull is real and is better stated than denied. Three arrangements hold against it, and each can be checked against the pages rather than taken on trust:

  • Where a product lands in a family has nothing to do with what it pays. No commission rate is looked at while a family is being ordered, and no family has been reshuffled afterwards because an entry turned out to earn more. When the right answer is the cheapest item on the page — or nothing at all, as when the chimney has to be swept and lined before any appliance is worth ordering — the page says so.
  • Some of the firmest recommendations on this site cost very little. A reel of door cord and the tube of cement that goes with it, a set of firebricks to replace a cracked one, a moisture meter that settles whether the wood was ever worth burning: none of them earns much, and each changes more about a winter than a costlier appliance would. Price does not decide, and neither does commission.
  • Where a reference has no confirmed offer on the Amazon store this site links to — and freight makes heavy equipment stocked very unevenly from one market to the next — the button searches that store instead of opening a listing that may be gone. That earns us less and costs you nothing.

Nothing here has a price on it

Not a position in a family, not a paragraph, not a warmer adjective. No page on this site is sponsored, and a verdict does not shift because a model runs out of stock or because a competitor would pay more — there is nothing in the way these pages are assembled that could react to what a product earns.

The live price beside a product

That figure is Amazon's own recorded price for your market, held briefly and then fetched again. This shelf moves on a strong season: demand climbs through the winter and falls away in spring, and a stove can hold one price from October through February and then drop sharply once nobody is lighting fires. Treat any band written into a review as the bracket it is, and treat the number Amazon shows at the moment you order as the only one that settles anything.
